Description

Find Your Light! - An Acting & Writing Course for Young Performers (Winter 2021)

Feb. 21 - Apr. 18
1:00pm - 3:00pm Central Time

Instructor: Atlie Gilbert

Join us for our newest class at Chicago Dramatists, built specifically for young artists!  Looking for the perfect course for your drama-king, queen, or future star? In this dynamic performance-based class, young actors will learn about the fundamentals of the audition process, acting, script analysis, and body language, all while developing their confidence, creative writing, and communication skills. The class is structured to inspire and challenge students while creating a fun, supportive, and nurtured environment – allowing students to flourish. Students will move, perform, and bring their written words to life!  Best of all?  The course will culminate with a showcase performance on April 18, giving the students a chance to flex their new acting and writing muscles in front of their friends and family!

Atlie Gilbert is over the moon to be teaching for Chicago Dramatists! Previously an adjunct faculty member of the Sherwood Community Music School at Columbia College, Atlie is a Chicago-based actor, improviser, and teaching artist. In addition to privately coaching for several years, she’s also had the privilege of teaching at Stagecrafters (OH), Solon Center for the Arts (OH), and Muse of Fire (IL), among others. Favorite regional credits include Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Great Lakes Theater, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Naked Angels, Muse of Fire, Emerald City Theatre, Williams Street Repertory Theater, Redmoon Theater, and the Civil Rights Opera Project. She frequently performs with Ubiquitous Players, American Immersion Theater, Naked Angels, and her improv group, Always in Trouble. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

Classes will be held via Zoom. Instructors will send out Zoom invites one day before class begins. We encourage students to set up a Zoom account for themselves before class if they have not already to ensure when class begins you are able to jump straight into the art!
