Synopsis: Burdened with $92,000 in student loan debt, a precocious stage director with a shiny new MFA from NYU is forced to return to her rust belt hometown, where she is bribed (for $92,000) into becoming the artistic director of the amateur Merry Art Players. This hour-long dramedy pilot episode is about a professional caught in an amateur’s world, getting an education she didn’t expect.
About Mary Ruth: Mary Ruth Clarke is a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists. She co-wrote and starred in the original Meet the Parents and co-adapted it into the blockbuster version, starring Robert De Niro. Agape also produced her farce Suffer The Long Night, co-written with her “Meet The Parents” partner, Greg Glienna.
