Description

A Chicago Dramatists Retreat on the Left Bank
Paris (One Week Intensive)

Oct. 05 - Oct. 09

Instructor: Award-Winning Playwright Emilio Williams M.F.A.

Chicago Dramatist, the preeminent incubator of new plays in the Chicagoland Midwest area, is coming to Paris for a taste of the ultimate literary ex-pat life. Playwrights of all levels and from all over the world are welcome to join.

Every morning we will meet for three hours in a studio overlooking the Eiffel Tower and the rooftops of Paris. Continental breakfast, short-lectures, mini-workshops, and thought-provoking discussions will ensue. After the first day of class, you will receive an orientation of the area to familiarize yourself with the best café, restaurants, and libraries of this historic and iconic neighborhood.

In the afternoons and evenings, you will be free to write, explore Paris, visit museums, open-air markets and the like. You will have the option to join three evening programs: a play in French with English subtitles, a jazz concert, and a complimentary cocktail reception after the final session.

The program will also offer a list of convenient lodging options at competitive prices. And we'll provide you with a list of more optional cultural events happening in Paris that week.

Tuition cost includes five three-hour seminars, five continental breakfasts, a goodbye cocktail-reception and two free tours of the Left Bank of Paris. Students are responsible for all additional costs including airfare, hotel, meals, and tickets for the two optional night activities.
