Literacy Chicago
Playwriting Collaboration

Chicago Dramatists is dedicated to bringing the art and craft of playwriting to communities across Chicago. We have proudly partnered with a series of organizations, and are committed to the growth and development of playwrights here in Chicago, that tell every story.

Your donation will support Chicago Dramatists' parternship with Literacy Chicago by helping to cover instructor and organizational fees.

About Literacy Chicago: Literacy Chicago's mission is to empower individuals to achieve greater self sufficiency through language and literacy instruction. In 1968, two organizations, Literacy Volunteers of Chicago and Literacy Council of Chicago, were created to address the literacy and language needs of Chicago adults. These two dynamic groups merged in 1992 to establish Literacy Chicago. Since then thousands of adults have participated in the broad range of programs Literacy Chicago has developed, including Basic Literacy, GED preparation, English as a Second Language, Workforce Development, Citizenship classes, and numerous bridge programs. And now Literacy Chicago's most recent addition is their collaboration with Chicago Dramatists to use playwriting, performance and personal narratives to enhance literacy scores, public confidence and personal self esteem.

Your donation will help ensure that these outreach programs and more continue to develop and thrive as we all work to give back to the community.
